Oskar van Rijswijk is a dutchman living in the Rothaar Mountains in Germany. Together with his wife Antonia Koevoets he hikes in the outdoors and travels by bicycle through Europe.
Last year we mostly stayed at home, while learning to live with the pandemic. In August we made a cycling trip, through the Münsterland, the Lower Rhine and the south of the Netherlands.
In autumn friends and relatives visited us in our village, where it was still allowed to travel and stay with a Corona certificate. Winter also brought a wave of exponentially growing SARS-CoV-2 infections (Omicron) here in Germany. At the end of November we received the third vaccination. The pandemic winter days I enjoyed following my feeds and digital news, playing chess, reading books, listening to podcasts and watching streaming video.
During our daily hikes and bike rides, we enjoy the peace and beautiful nature here in the Sauerland. In early March, we spent a week visiting family and friends in the Netherlands from a bungalow park in Brabant. If there will be no travel restrictions due to the pandemic and the war, we plan to go on another bike trip sometime this spring.
